4) Caption reads:  Old State House - Boston Mass. Here, in 1780, John Hancock was inaugurated first Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

5) Caption reads:  Erected in 1713, this, the oldest public building in Boston, served as the seat of the British Royal Government until 1776 when, with the evacuation of the British from Boston, it became the first State House, serving as such until 1798. The Declaration of Independence was first read in Boston from the balcony, overlooking the site of the Boston Massacre (marked by cobble stones in the foreground).

6) Postmarked Oct 12, 1974. Caption reads:  Site of the Boston Massacre and other historic events, this old building at Washington and State Streets is one of the landmarks not to be missed. The lion and unicorn figures which stand on the building today are replacements of those burned by the Patriots in 1776.
