A Study Of . . . Washington NJ / High School On Taylor St, #003 |
|
School days, school daze. The front half of this building (the sections topped by the cupola) was completed in 1874 and was the source of much town pride, as it represented the up-to-the-minute theories in school building at that time; it had eight classrooms (four down and four up, with one of the rooms upstairs being used for reciting). But by 1888, Washington had blossomed so much that the once-cutting-edge building could no longer cut it, and it got a four-room addition to the rear.
