A Study Of . . . Washington NJ / Needham Piano & Organ Co, #002 |
|
A close view of the Needham Piano & Organ Co factory on Railroad Ave. This building was originally the Daniel F Beatty Piano & Organ Factory, but after Mr. Beatty over-extended himself financially and became insolvent in 1884, the building soon became the Needham factory. Indeed, a close look at the front of the building, just before the word NEEDHAM, will reveal the faint remains of the letters D-A-N-I (the first 4 letters of the word Daniel) left over from the Beatty days. The Needham factory occupied this building until 1915, at which time, the John Sommer Co took over, making piano backs and faucets. |
