Caption reads:  From this point, the American Falls can be seen to its greatest advantage, but it is hardly possible to reach it on a stormy day, as the mist freezes as soon as it rises, and strikes the visitors with such force, as to make their advance impossible. The snow piles itself up and reaches a height of nearly 25 feet at the point, and forms a sight which is never to be forgotten.
