A Study Of . . . Niagara Falls / Clifford Calverly Crossing Niagara Gorge, #001 |
|
Fun With Funambulists! Clifford Calverly (notice the misspelling on the card) was one of the many tightrope walkers (so that's what a funambulist is) to cross the Niagara River beginning in about the mid-1800's. His specialty was speed - he once fast-stepped over a cable stretched across the Niagara Gorge in about 2 1/2 minutes, which was a quarter of the time of other Niagara cable walkers! |
